Mackinac Island Wedding Makeup

We had the pleasure of traveling from NYC to Mackinac Island for our good friend Devan’s big day!  It took planes, trains, automobiles, boats and horses to get us there, but we packed our makeup kits, cameras and tuxedos and made our way to this little piece of paradise on Lake Huron in Michigan.

The festivities were held at the Mission Point Inn and The Little Stone Church (which donates all money made from the ceremonies it performs to a scholarship fund for the native Mackinac Islanders).  The weather could not have been more perfect, as you can see from the pictures, for the big event.  Family and friends flew in from all over the US and one very special Maid of Honor from Australia.

Devan’s wedding had a beautiful coral theme and we used it as a source of inspiration for her makeup. Her look was the epitome of classic and soft with a little pop! You never want to date yourself in wedding pictures with dramatic makeup – keep it classic ladies!

Another tip…wear a little more color than you usually would, especially where flash photography is involved – or else it will wash you out!  And make sure to convince your groom that a little Translucent Powder is not going to kill him!  When your face is powdered and matte and his is shiny the camera will know!

The bride and her bridesmaids donning the coral theme with bouquets of snapdragons on a most beautiful day!

At this point Devan is about ready to melt in her Dior Couture inspired gown.  The pictures went on for several hours between dodging golf balls and touch ups!

The backdrop of Lake Huron could not have been more serene on the deserted beach in front of the Mission Point Inn!  Our friend Dan from NYC acted as photographer’s assistant for the day.

Touch ups throughout the day are essential!  If you don’t have a makeup artist on hand be sure to have your lip color and blush in your handbag – or with your maid of honor!
